Erik “MacRay” Rhea
An American Craftsman
I’ve been crafting and building since I was a child. I began leatherworking when I was a kid to make costumes and accessories for Renaissance fairs and D&D friends. I began working with wood when I came to LA and was building props and sets for the film industry. However I was discouraged at the impermanence of what we make for the movies and I started studying and practicing traditional methods of construction and furniture to make objects of enduring quality that will last longer than a lifetime. My goal was first to just build all the furniture in my house and once I had, I didn’t stop; and thus we now have Plane & Boring. I live in Burbank with my amazing wife and as many critters as we can fit into our little cottage next to the workshop.
